tranny stuck in low gear

I'm looking to get a 85 z28 carb and the tranny is stuck in low gear...I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what I could do to fix this...thanks a lot

Hmmm, 'low gear', sounds ilke an auto. If you mean it never shifts out of low and reverse works properly, then it may be the governor gear is stripped. Common problem.

I was also told that somewhere on there it has a little plastic clip that can cause it too...any truth to this? also what could I do to fix this and price range on that? you guys are gods by the way

Axle/Gears: 3.73 eaton locker
If it is just the gear you could just change the gear. If you do it your self it would be a couple dollars for the gear. It could also be a sticking throttle valve in the valve body. Without being able to drive the car it is very difficult to diagnoise the trans.
