Well I did a search and found nothing on what the spline count is suppose to be on the pinion gear for our cars, does anyone know? My car is a 1983 if that helps. JEG's has one that says 27, is that right? i thought they matched the axle with the 26 or 28...

 

the spline count on the pinion never changed on 3rd and 4th gen 10 bolts. the ring and pinion have nothing to do with the spline count on the axles

 

Oh ok, well do you know what the spline count is? Is it suppose to be 27?

 

no idea it doesn't really matter what it is since all are the same

 

well it has to match the yoke spline count doesn't it? well the catalog says it matches a 82-92 camaro, so i guess thats good enough

 

Yup, in fact it matches ALL 7½" GM rears, in A-, G- F-cars, and S trucks, vans, etc. etc. etc. from 78 to the present.

 

what about 7.625" axles? like the fourth gens?
