Crossmember Mounting Question
Here's my problem, my 82 Z-28 originally came with the 200metric and when it died I've been using a 350 turbo. It had the same overall dimension as the 200 metric, but now I'm in the middle of putting a 700R4 in for the overdrive. I got everything I need to put it in including a crossmember for the 700R4. My problem is that the crossmember for the 700R4 locates back further on the subframe. The front 2 holes of the new member thread into the rear 2 holes of the original member on the subframe. Now I need to drill 2 new holes for the back 2 holes of the member. Drilling the holes isn't the problem but how do you go about fastening a nut to it? I'm not sure what to do, any suggestions would be appreciated. Is there such a thing to allow putting a caputered nut in place? Thanks in advance.
