carrier size, how do i figure this out

i want to order a ring and pinion gear set for my formula. (3.73)
the catolog has 2 types one set is for 3.08 and higher carriers and the other set is for 3.08 and lower carriers. do u determine this by what ever the stock gears in the car are? i think its 2.73 its a base model formula 89. am i correct about the stock ratio

you need to look not guess. you can alway buy the standard thickness gear set and get a ring gear spacer so the gear works on 2 or 3 series carriers
