hey guys you might remember i recently installed a new auburn posi and bearing well it has been about 3-4 hundred miles since then and i took an extended highway trip proboly like 30 miles at 50+ miles per hour plus some hard lauches as i was on my way home i noticed that if i put my head between the seats and listened i could hear a slight whine proboly from the rear only on light accel not on decel or anything past like half throttle the niose is quite faint barely audible over my flowmaster, but do you think i should be concerned when i got home i felt the cover of the rear end and it was hot like i left my hand on it for about 30 seconds and it knda tingled but not lot burning, should i change the fluid?? cant remeber if it made noise before

ps stock gm 3.73 were swapped onto the new posi and new carrier bearings installed backlash was 8-10 thousands and pattern was ok ???

 

Is the rearend a 9 bolt or 10 bolt? If it is a 9 bolt, check to see if the noise is coming from one of the rear tires, if it is, then it is probably the bearings pressed on the axle that is bad.

If it is a 10 bolt, then more than likely it is an incorrect backlash setting.
