Help with my Auburn
Ok, I dont know who saw my last thread, but I found an auburn posi unit at school. Teacher gave it to me. It's a 26 spline, 2 series 7.5" carrier. Well I took it to a shop and they said it looked ok, but needed new springs. They said the cones were a bit work, but not bad. The only real issue was that there was some pitting on the teeth on one of the cone gears, but he didnt know how big of a deal it was.
Anyone here know?

Also, does anyone perhaps have one of these that I can get off them, or know where I can get a new one.. or know if I might be able to replace this thing under Auburn's warranty? According to the number on the side, it was built March of 2001, so I might still qualify....
Any info appreciated.

I was always told that if a part was pitted it needs to be replaced.
I dought any auto parts store carry's a posi rebuild kit, but I have never had to to do that so I've never check at one. Just looked at Autozone and Orielly's website, they didn't show anything for a Posi Kit.
I've always found the hard to find rear end parts at Truck Stores that deal in rebuilding rears,Driveshafts,Lift Kits etc. Good Luck

Try calling the phone number that can be found at www.auburngear.com They'll know, and have the parts, if anybody will.
After properly processing the image so that I could actually see anything, that gear looks smoked to me.

Oops, sorry. The pic looked fine on my screen, but my monitor is set up forta funny, and I often forget that.
Well I emailed Auburn but havent heard back from them yet. Looks like I need an origional recipt so I guess I'm boned. I may try to get another lightly used one and see if that works, or else I may just put mine in for a few weeks. Grad is coming up and some buddies and I are planning to bring our cars to the ceremony and then get onto the main road and light 'em up. Some of us have open rear ends, some dont. I'd just sort of like to leave two black streaks behind me as we all burn outta there, but you know. Dont want to have it grenade on me in the middle of that either.
