Is there a consensus yet?
I was wondering if there has been a consensus yet on the TH350 swap method.
Is it easier/cheaper (or possibly one or the other) to
A. Do the TeckPak Switch kit involving putting on the 700R4 tailshaft along with the spacer onto a TH350, thus not touching the driveshaft length.
or
B. Get the B&M kit and do the driveshaft lengthening.
From what I know the TeckPak kit is now up to 169 dollars on Bulkpart.com. The B&M kit is 85 dollars and the driveshaft lengthening is *** knows what.
Also is an issue of ease and ability to my own installation. I'll tell you this now, I'm just learning about how engines work. I'm deadly afraid of transmissions. I'm sure I could learn yes, but at this point in time I don't think I could. The only reason I bring up this point is because of whats involved installing the tailshaft of a 700R4 to my TH350.
Just some advice from those who have done it both ways or at least one of them would be nice.
Thanks

i kinda did neither. i used a spohn crossmember, and my car is an 82, so the driveshaft worked. however, i'd recommend if you're just starting out, to lengthen your shaft, cuz it cost a buddy of mine a scant 65 bucks to lengthen his to put a 700r4 in a 73 camaro. if you put a th350 in an 83-up car, you'll need to shorten it, not lengthen it, which will be sheaper than that. realistically, the two mods cost the same, but for your purposes, screw with the driveshaft, cuz you're too "green" to be messing with the tranny. (by your own words)

well I'm pretty sure you lengthen it 3 inches because the TH350 tailshaft is 6 inches (the one I have) and the 9 inch tailshaft TH350s are a direct fit.
What exactly entails in the installation of the tailshaft? Is it something that'll take an hour or is this something that is a lil more intricate?

I have a 9'' tailshaft TCI street fighter th350. And a b&m changeover kit. It allows you to use your stock driveshaft and crossmember. The swap isn't hard. The changeover kit is pretty stout also. I do plan to eventually get a spohn crossmember/torque arm combo but it will be a long whole before I do that.
