4L60E Question
I know its not a 3rd gen, but I have a 4L60E problem with a Chevy S10 Extreme pickup. It is a 1999 with the 2.2L 4 banger. It ran good with no abuse for 77,000 miles.
For a month or so, it would slip once in a while when driving it. Then one day the tranny just wouldn't go into drive or reverse any more. It shifts out of park, so I know the linkage to the park pawl is still connected.
The fluid is dark, but didn't smell bad, I am hoping that maybe its just the electronic module on the side of the tranny that may be bad? Or maybe the pick up filter fell out or down? When its shifted into any gear, it acts as if its in neutral, and the fluid level is around 2-3 inches above the mark on the dipstick when idling in Park.
I also got a code "P1870" from the reader at Autozone which is a "Trans Mechanical Transfer Case 4X4 Switch" error code. Catch is,... its a two wheel drive.
I just hope its not burnt up.
