automatic to manual car?
automatic to manual car?
hi, i have recently bout a 92 rs and i was wondering if it is possible to convert an automatic car into a manual car? and if so is it terribly expensive and what do i do to complete so? sorry if this si dumb question but i have heard differing sides of the story with different asnwers. also , sorry if this is wrong place for me 2 post this
I don't know the prices for the stuff but I recently converted my automatic 85 iroc into a manual. I had another manual to make my templates on but im sure you could measure it out. Just two holes you have to cut. One for the petal-slave cylinder through the firewall and the other for the shifter. Other then the tranny you'll need a shifter, petal assembly and slave cylinder. Everything bolts up fine including the ds, and the tq arm.
I just got my clutch pedal assembly, slave cylinder assembly and hole cut out for the shifter this past weekend and it was easy. I bought the 4th gen clutch pedal assembly from my local dealer for $95.00 tax included and the slave cylinder assembly complete with the reservoir was about $150.00, keep in mind though that you can buy everything as a kit for alot cheaper! I'm buying all new GM 4th gen T-56 parts to complete my restoration so it's going to cost me close to $3800.00, that's with the spohn torque arm, crossmember, Spec flywheel and stage two clutch, etc...
Well worth it though! The 5-speed cars are getting scarce
