Alright, my 83 z-28 parts car has rear disks and posi. and my 89 rs has drums. I originally planned to swap the whole rear end housing, but when I went to pull it off the donor, i saw the axle tubes are rusted to hell. I am assuming that I can just directly swap the carrier and gears from the old one to my current housing, thus making it posi. Is this correct. I am assuming that they are both 10 bolt rears, but I'll confirm that of course before I even attempt anything.

My next question regards the disk brakes. Can I swap over the disks using all the brackets from the donor, or is the bolting pattern different on teh disk and drum housings? I'm not afraid of fabrication, I just don't have the equipment or the time right now. and if I have to fab i'll probably go with better brakes as I get the impression on this board that 83 disks arn't that great. I would like to use them if they are simply a bolt on deal.
