Bad Leak need help!!!!!!
hey guys i have a big prob. i just built a 350 and put it in my 87 z28. i replaced the front and rear transmission seals, installed a new B&M 2800 stall convertor, new kickdown cable, and new filter.
well it is leaking really bad from the passenger side of the transmission. i went out and got another new kickdown cable and filter kit. it is still leaking really bad. each time i park some where i leave a huge puddle of fluid.
is it the dipstick tube? if so how can i fix it.
its not overfilled i checked it when it was hot and it seemed dead on. it doesnt leak though when im driving it and it slows and stops once the car is running. its like once you shut it off it decides to leak.

Yup, sound like the fill tube seal... when the car is running, the fluid level is below it, but when you shut the car off, the fluid all runs back into the pan and the level is much higher, so it starts leaking.
You fix it by taking out the fill tube, removing the munged O-ring or seal (there are 2 possible parts it could be, depending on which fill tube you have, could be either a boot sort of thing or just an O-ring, just get both at the parts store), and re-installing it.
OBTW, what other kind of a "leak" is there, besides a "Bad Leak"? Some might be worse than others, but I don't think I've ever seen a "good leak", or even a "neutral leak".

Well, then there's the leak you sort of have to live with until you can get it fixed, like the right rear tire on my Suburban. I don't know...

bad leak as in you cant run around with it like that. slow leaks you can drive forever with but dumping 1/2 - 3/4 quart at every stop is bad.
i got under there and the leak is coming from the kickdown cable housing. i think there is suppose to be a seal there and its missing. anyone know where i can get the seal?
