How to change differential

Exactly how can you do this process. I'm buying a rearend from a fellow member here on thirdgen, he has the same car as me, just 3.42 gears and a posi unit. I wanna just swap the gears and posi into mine, which has the 2.73 and open differential. I been told its a very hard process and i should take to the shop, but my pops is a mechanic, never got a certificate just learn from his pops who work on dragsters. I'm pretty much mechanically inclined and along with my pops i feel we can do it. So i'm asking, would we be able to do it, is there directions on how to take out and put one in? I don't have the guide that comes with the car unforunately, but can you guys help me out?

The best guide I've seen on how to do it is here:
