McLeod clutch damper springs broke

McLeod clutch damper springs broke
How does this even happen? It has around 10k on it behind a mild 350. The trans (T56) was acting like the clutch wouldn't disengage all the way so I put in new sealed GM hydraulics which didn't fix the problem. I pulled the trans and clutch and found this:

I've never dumped the clutch, just done some hard takeoffs from 3k the few times I've been at the strip. I doubt they'll do anything about it but I'm going to call Thunder Racing (where I bought it) and McLeod.
