Clanging and banging noise
While driving home tonight, I decided to play around a little and punched it from a 20 roll, but as soon as it shifted into 2nd, I heard this loud popping noise. Now when I give the car any form acceleration, their is a loud, almost hammering, type noise coming from under the car and it only grows more apparent with added rpm's. I just had the rear end rebuilt and added Richmond 3.73. BTW, it doesn't make any noise on turns. Could it be a bad u-joint or did my rear end get chewed up by an improper install? Any input is greatly appreciated.

It does it all the time, not just on shifts. I checked the trans mount and it seems to be fine.

Sounds like either a broken tranny mount, and/or motor mounts. Have someone shift the car from park to drive and reverse while holding the brake, while you watch the engine and tranny. If the engine moves anything more than just a fraction of an inch, it's the motor mounts. If the tranny jumps off the cross-member, it's the trannsmission mounts. If neither does these things, check the u-joints for play.
Also, hope to hell that it is one of those three things, cause if it's not, you're gonna have quite a bit of fun.
