Compatiblity ?
I am having a hard time finding a t-5 tranny. none of my junk yards in town have one and none of the shops will sell without a trade in. so i have a question. i know i need a specific bellhousing and all the other parts, but can i use any t-5 from any car? are they all the same? For instance, can i get one from (*** forbid) a mustang or something. Sorry if it sounds dumb to some but i had to ask cause im desperate.

No. I wish it were that simple. I'm constantly looking for good WC T5 cores and they are hard to come by. The problem is that they only used them from '88-'92, only in 305 cars.
You need a V8 F-body WC T5. You need the TA mount ont eh side, and the right inpit/output shafts. A lot of internal components are the saem Ford to Chevy like the gears and such, but the external differences make a direct swap impossible.
