4th gen differential question
After reading the tech article here on TGO about "Beefing up the 10 bolt", it says that the differential out of a 4th gen f-body (said SLP take-out units) doesnt ever need to be rebuilt because it uses cones instead of clutches......is this true? does this mean I could go to the junkyard, find a 4th gen with posi, take the differential out, and have it be working just as good as it did the day it rolled out of the factory? I'd still be able to use it in a 3rd gen rear end, right?
Thanks,

i think it'd be foolish to think a used carrier with unknown history would "work good as new". think the point was more that cones don't wear out like a clutch would, not that they never wear out, or break. a 4th gen 10 bolt carrier will work in a 3rd gen 10 bolt.
