1985 Rear disc Trans Am's that had 5-speeds, were they all 3.73 gears? Apparently someone swapped out the console or did they look like the 83-84 model consoles, I didn't look for a SPID lable in the console.

Would this be worth swapping out for the 9 bolt 3.23 rear that is in the GTA I am putting back together?
I want a lower gear without the noise that I hear the 3.70's for the 9 bolts make and it seems that the 3.45's are almost impossible to find now.

I'm sure I can pick up the rear for a good price, I can get the 3.70's for the 9 bolt for about 160 plus shipping but like I said, the manufacturer said they would be noisy on decelleration.

From my understanding, the H.O cars in '85 with the 5-speed were 3.73 gears and was hoping someone could clarify this for me.

The car will have an LT1/T56 combo from another Firebird I have which has 3.42's in it but no posi or rear disc, and I like the way it pulls and afraid that 3.23's will be too high to enjoy driving the car like I am now and figured that 3.73's in the 10 bolt rears would be more quiet, plus it would be a rear disc car like the 9 bolt already is.
