Ok...here is the deal. I managed to get the rear end of an Iroc that has a posi unit and 3.73's. Guy who had this upgraded to an 8.8" rear end with 4.11's and is letting me have it for $200. I plan on getting all this installed by a pro as shimming is somethign I have no clue about.

Now here is the big question. My tranny still has teh stock torque converter. Is this gonna be a problem or should I look at upgrading to a 2000 stall. I noticed that TBI chips has afew 2000 stall TC's there for a good price so I was thinking of going that route but I wanted to see what you guys think of this.

Are you getting a complet housing because the 8.8 will not fit your 10- bolt housing . I would make sure that if it is an 8.8 10-bolt housing that it is modified to adapth the toquec arm . Never heard of this done so I would not want you to get rippet off . I am not sure if the 8.8 10-bolt can be made to fit an f-body. I am not an auto guy but if you get the rear to fit I do not see any problems good luck .

dude read before you post...he got the rearend from an iroc BECAUSE the guy he got it from upgraded to a 8.8".....so he's installing a 10 bolt 7.5" with a posi unit and 3.73's...the torque converter really has nothin to do with the rearend gears that you choose, it has more to do with which cam you choose...you can leave your torque converter if you want, you are not required to replace it at this point...if that answers your question..torque converters are made for higher rpm cams, so that you pop right into your powerband when you launch..

its alright bud, everbody makes mistakes...yea if the rearend was already installed, and everything sounded good, there is no work to be done, just bolt it in and have fun...however if it makes a grinding or a really really bad whinning sound, you need to get it reshimmed....it should make a little whine tho usually..
