I recently had an aluminum driveshaft installed, but had to reuse the steel shaft yoke cause the aluminum one was really tarnished. For weeks it ran fine, now a tick/ping type noise is coming from under the car when i accelerate hard from a stop or whens its shifted into reverse. So i took the car to a trans shop and a driveshaft guy. neither could tell me where its coming from, but the driveshaft guy said to try better u joints and that the shaft was too short. so i replaced the joints but the noise is still there. Has anyone had a similar problem or know what it may be?

Didnt see anything hanging and e brake works fine, but im starting to think that because the shaft is about 1.5 inches too short and doesnt go all the way up in the trans that its whats causing the noise.

So my new question is, would having a driveshaft that is too short harm the transmission in any way?
