Mini spool

Does anyone make a mini spool for a 28 spine 7.5 rear end?

Yes they do, but they are NOT made for drag racing. Full spools aren't that much more anyways. I had one made for a 8.5 and it lasted eight weekends. Got real sloppy. Not worth the while.

I've only seen listings for the 26 spline 7.5" and it's only designed for dirt track racing. They don't make a full spool for the 7.5". It's just not a strong enough diff for any kind of performance parts like that.

Yup I've only seen them for the 26 spline axles too. I think Richmond Gear makes one and the Summit Racing brand also makes one (talking mini-spools) both around $99. I'm gonna be trying these out with some extra 26 spline 10bolts I got laying around (dont mind if they explode), should be perfect for my application which is similar to dirt track racing/sliding, but on pavement with very little grip involved (lots of throttle, smaller tires then you'd use for roadracing). If you wanna do the install yourself stock car racing magazine has a nice writeup on the install with pictures (google it) ...

i found a mini spool for it but i am also thinking of going to just a stock posi unit, does anyone know where one is cheap? And also will a 93-02 posi unit fit in a 3rd gen? Thanks guys

Yes and no. It will fit but the side gears will be for 28 spline axles. Only the 90-92 third gens have 28 spline axles. Since you have a 91, there should be no problems. Fourth gen 28 spline axles will not fit in a third gen housing. Neither will any other 7.5" diff with 28 spline axles unless it came from a third gen. ie, S10's, Astro vans etc.

I figured since mine was a 28 spline axle it would work, but i already knew that about the 4th gen axles not fitting in a 3rd gen housing, but why wont it? just wondering

the axle rods in a 4th gen are like 2 inches longer per shaft, thats why my back tires stick out 2 inches on each side of the car. i did a full swap to a 4gen rear with a great posi and 3.42 gears for 300 bucks and i got better rear disk brakes.

hope that helps

Later,
Jon
