91 rear axle side slop

i have an rear axle off an 91 z with a posi(stock). when i was looking it over i pulled on the studs for the wheels and there seems to be alot of movement in and out. could it be the c-clips?
i just want to make sure i put in a decent axle before going through the trouble of swaping the axle.

If there's a lot of slop something is off. There will be a slight amount of play, but not much. Pull the cover adn take out th axels. Inspect the ends around the c-clip groove, inspect the c-clips, and inspect the cross pin. Replace anything that looks work or isn't up to snuff.
