Syncromesh or M1 synthetic
I've done my search and still didn't come up with a definite answer. Sorry if it's been beat to death but I'd rather re-ask a question than burn up a new $2000 tranny.
My aftermarket T56 calls for Dexron III. I've heard of GM Syncromesh. Is it the same stuff as the Dexron III?
Which would you use. Mobile 1 syn dexron III or the GM syncromesh?

Personally I wouldn't use either. The T56 is designed for ATF, so it is supposed to run Dextron III or IV. With a trans of that caliber I wouldn't run anything less than Amsoil full synthetic ATF.
I refuse to use Mobil 1 products because everything I've ever put them in has leaked after a few thousand miles. Amsoil is the best reasonably priced stuff around in terms of durability, consistency, the addative package, etc. Several years ago I did a lot of research on oils and Amsoil always came out on top in the independent laboratory stuff. There's some ultra exotic race oil out there that is even better, but I'm not willing to spend $50 per quart. I've used Amsoil exclusively for the past couple of years and have no complaints about it.
