Biggest flywheel with stock T5 bellhousing?

It seems that the GMPP flywheel I got a while back is a little bit bigger. Maybe by an inch or so, cuz my old pressure plate wont bolt up to the new flywheel. ANyways, I started wondering if it would even fit in my bellhousing? It should work right? GMPP Part# 10105832, is also listed in summit if I remember.

From what I've heard, with no personal experience, the 153-tooth, 12-3/4" is all that will fit.

What say we move this from Tech to where the 'xperts live.

I just this week pulled my T5 out to do my T56 swap. I noticed when I was pulling my bellhousing off that there wasn't more than maybe 1/4" clearance between the bellhousing and the flywheel. I didn't specificallt measure the differance but I doubt VERY seriously you could get a bigger flywheel inside.

153 is it. Same with a T56. You can't run the 168 flywheels in a 3rd gen using stock parts. Most musclecars didn't even use them. The bigger flywheels usually came on trucks and very high performance stuff where they wanted to use the bigger clutch to prevent burning up the smaller one. Newer clutch technology has made this unecessary. The smaller package is lighter and therfore revs more freely. It's probably worth 10HP over the bigger package.
