Is this right?

New filter is a different shape and size than the old one. The hole where you can see the screen is on a different side too. This is for a 700R4. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to have to take this apart again any time soon!

the one on the right looks like the filter i took out and put in my tranny a few months ago(700R4). If i remeber right there was something in my filter kit that said it might look differnce but there was a change and this filter will interchange, but cant remember.

Even the tube on it is a different size, but the gasket is right. I guess I will see if it will go in there. Thanks for the info.

It fits, so I guess I'll button it all up. I think it fits better than the one that was in there.

Yeah, I don't know when they changed, but they did vary the 700 filters a bit over the years. With a deeper pan, the 700 filters work on the 200-4R. Usually, a 200-4R filter has the pickup on top, which is lame, but that's how they did it.

gm changed the style of the filters in the early 80's to the style that is on the right. i haven't seen the style on the left in years.
