Anyone used a sold disc (no Marcel) clutch before? Still has a sprung hub
Hi guys, I am almost done with the w/c T5 install on my 2nd gen. The clutch I picked up was advertised as a strip clutch, but I figured it was just an aggressive street type organic clutch. It is a really, really old NOS Zoom 10.5" clutch. I took a close look at it the other day and it looks like any normal OEM-type clutch except it has no "Marcel" -- the Marcel is the springy discs in between the 2 friction plates that allow the clutch to give as it engages, eliminating shudder. My Zoom is a solid disc. It still has the sprung hub in the center like any OEM type clutch, just no springy material in between friction plates. Has anyone ever run a clutch like this before? I was reading that the non Marcel type clutches are prone to shudder. Hopefully its not that bad, I really don't want to change it immediately after installing.
