Help understanding a stall

I bought a 86 z28 at the beginning of the summer. It had a 350 with a stage 2 700r4, the tranny had a stall of 2200 installed by www.700raptor.com. I would like to understand what a stall converter does for the tranny. Thanks for the help.

it doesn't do anything "for" the trans. what the converter does, any converter, is set the rpm when the car begins to move, or die. the actuall rpm is dependent on car weight, HP, and how you go about putting the power to the ground, or trans.
