My 9" was doing great. But after cutting some good times at the track this past weekend it now makes a lot of noise durring coasting and deceleration(sp?). A friend of mine said it could be a lose pinion nut. Anyone know the tq spec on a pinion nut for a moser 9"? Any other thoughts on what it might be? I'm a little confused. This center section is straight from moser w/ a spool in it.

Get under the car and grab hold of the pinion. Give it a good shake and see if you can detect any play.

What kind of short times did you cut?

Im going for the long shot and saying you did some serious wear on you gears on those runs.

which would only happen if something loosened up, such as the pinion nut. I would put money on that being the problem. My brother's and my friend's both had problems with the rear making noises. Checked the pinion and you could move them both around after thinking they had collapsed the crush sleeve.

I pulled a 1.57 in a manual trans.

It does feel like there's play in the rear end yoke.

Kina off topic, but when setting the pinion angle you want it ~ -1* compared to the transmission output shaft correct?
