Help
Fellas, i need your help once more. I had a problem earlier this year with my 89 trans 5.7 tune port injection it was running great then the anti theft system kicked in. Let me tell you this was a huge pain nobody could figure it out... so my friend just changed the bad boy to a carburator. Since then it s back to running great i love it. My question is should i change my transmission oil? I have no problems with the trans i just want to make sure it last a good amount of time. If so can someone explain to me a step by step process.

Trans fluid is just like engine oil, theres a schedule to change it. Aproximatly every two years. Changing it is fairly straigt forward but can be a pain in the ***, with out a trans pan with a drain plug.
1. Loosen bolts for trans pan and get ready for trans fluid to spill out of whichever end of the pan is lowest.
2. Once trans fluid stops spilling over top of pan remove bolt. Be sure to support pan as it still has most of the trans fluid in it.
3. Remove trans filter. Make sure to remove gasket also. They sometimes stick in the housing.
4. Put new filter in. Put pan back in place with new gasket.
5. Add three or four quarts of trans fluid and start engine. Add fluid as necessary to achieve proper oil level.

yeah you can see the filter when you drop the pan. after you remove the filter make sure you get the old gasket out and sort of tap the new filter into place and make sure it seats and is secure.
