Just thought I'd share a Rear-end story
Although I'd love to entertain you with a story of a different kind of rearend, this one has to do with my bitchin camaro.
My pinion bearings failed and upon inspection, my internals were crap too. I did discover that I had a 3.42 open (not the original rear).
Anyway pulled the rear and finally got it to the shop today only to find out that everything had to go......the carrier was shot as well as the axles themselves. A grand total of $1300
As it turns out the drivetrain shop had built a rear for a 1991 camaro maybe a year ago. The guy ended up wrecking the car and sold the rear end back to the shop 2 days after he got it from them.
So the owner said he'd sell me that one for $675. It had 2 days of use but its a 3.23 with a brand new posi and axles and ring/pinion.
The shop is huge and is reputable. Its where almost every garage I asked for a referral sent me too. Cool deal.
