Engine swap-flexplate questions
Going to a vortec 350 in my son's 86 Z28. From what I've read, I will need a 153 tooth flexplate. Will the starter off his 2-pc crank 350 work? I didn't count the teeth yet on his old flexplate. Who makes the best/affordable flexplates?

The starter might work, if it's for a 153-tooth (12.8") flywheel/flexplate. It WILL NOT work if it's for a 168-tooth (14") setup.
You can get a flexplate at the parts store, or you can get one from Summit, Jeg's, or your local speed shop. Just get the right one for a 86-97 Camaro/Firebird V8. Don't trouble the parts counter guy with all this stuff about how many teeth; he can't look up any of that anyway. Just get the right one for that application, and it will be what you need.
