92 Pinion Nut Torque
Well, I have the driveline out to do the clutch work and
noticed that the pinion seal may be leaking a little. Might
as well replace it now.
I have read that when you change out the pinion seal
on a rear end with full floating axles (I believe this one
is), that you need to measure the torque on the pinion
yoke that is required to just turn the axles and re-tighten
the pinion nut when you re-install it to the same level.
Is that true or do you just tighten the pinion nut to a
require torque specification while the yoke is locked in
place? Some say to mark the nut and shaft then count
the threads. Anyone have a procedure for this?

Pinion seals normally fail due to bearing wearing. So I'd expect to replace the rear soon too. Mine leaked for about a month, then I replaced the seal. The rear died a week later.
