Connector not pulgged in-- what is it??
There is a four wire connector that is not hooked up on my trans. It has been that way since I bought it so I haven't thought much about it, but my trans waits real late to shift and won't downshift very well.
Does the cable have anything to do with problem? What is it for? I can't find a place to hook it into.
Thanks

The connector is for the TCC, wont affect your shift points but gives you bad gas mileage due to the TC slipping all the time.
For the shift points, have you set the TV cable as per the instructions in tech articles?

I have adjusted the cable as written in the tech article, other ways too and still can't get a good shift. I think maybe the cable has stretched(??)-- I have 165K on it. I can't get it to downshift unless I put it all the way to the floor and that is spotty and really doesn't kick down firmly, it just kinda slips into a lower gear.
What is TCC? Torque converter clutch?
Is it the same as the Floorguy is talking about? What is it suppossed to do?
Thanks for the help. My knowledge of transmissions is not up to par.

The connector sends 12 volts and ground triggers. If a lock up converter wears out the friction material, it will develop shudder when going into lock up. An easy way to stop this (especially if selling a car) is to unplug the connector. Plug it in and see if you get lock up. If it works well, leave it plugged in.
After 100,000 plus miles, the tv cable can stretch. The tv spring could also be weak. The tv valve could be gooked up too. Unfortunately, with that many miles, it could be dozens of things. Most involve overhaul.
