Shift Kits
Hi Everyone
First of all I have an 89 IROC 350TPI and an 89 RS 305 TBI Camaro. The RS isn't running but has a rebuilt 700R4. The IROC's 700R4 is slipping, I have to give it gas gently or else it will slip badly.
I'm going to have a shop swap the rebuilt tranny into the IROC.
What should I be aware of? If I were to add a shift kit to it, which would you recommend?
Thanks

B&M and transgo are the 2 most common brands. Most sem to prefer transgo. I have been using the B&M for years and like it.

If the shop can't get a kit for you I would go elsewhere. You wanna go somewhere that has done one before. The tranny shop I used around here stocks transgo's, thats how often they install em. www.bmracing.com

the tv cable will be different and the speedo gears are most likely different. like 85z28guy said, if the shop can't get it for you, go elsewhere. i have the transgo kit and love it. both it and the b$m can be bought through summit if nothing else.

Thanks for Help Everyone
As you can probably tell this is all new to me. I thinking of either the B&M Shift kit level 2 or the Transpak level 2.
If I'm reading this description correctly with the Transpak you can downinto low at speeds above 15 MPH. Will that hurt the transmission or maybe even the motor by pushing the RPM way up.
Just wondering.
Thanks

I've heard nothing but good on the transgo kits. The only way I would ever manually downshift a tranny is with a full manual valve body.
