Gear ratio

I was reading some where on the internet that said that if you put big gears on a tpi car you would be chooking the powerband?
I was thinking about putting 3.73s on my car, I think that this comment is bs and I want to know what you guys are running with your cars.

3.73's on a 5 speed would be a really good gear for quarter mile tracks.

3.42's are a great options for auto tpi's.

yeah tpi's lose steam after like 4,800 or so, they are not a high reving power maker stock. lots of torque down low and as well as moderate hp mid range.

yeah yow dont want to go overkill on stock tpi's it seems.
