automatic downshift question?

is there anyway to make a 700r4 downshift faster? rather than when you floor it you have to wait and then it finally shifts. also if you downshift manually with a b&m shifter how do you make it downshift faster.

The simple answear is to buy a manual. The auto in automatic means exactly that. You can shift it manually thru the gears, but thats not really good for the valves in the tranny. They werent really designed to be opened and closed constantly.

Nice thing about a mechanically controlled trans is that with the addition of a quality shift kit, itll downshift in a matter of milliseconds to the lowest permittable gear. Youd have a hard time beating the downshift times with a stick.

Good thing all the valves stay perfectly stationary when the transmission shifts itself.

I was speaking about the manuel vavle that controls gear selection. P,R,N,D etc. In automatic shifting that valve doesnt move at all. But when you shift it manually it does.

You'd be doing a whole lot of shifting before you ever wore out the manual valve.
