9 bolt carrier rebuild q's
I am rebuilding another carrier from a 9 bolt borg warner 3-series. The friction cones in this carrier have been worn past what the tech threads say are redeemable by milling the ends.
My question is why is it unuseable. if a small amount was milled to ensure a flat surface, then 1 solid shim was used (instead of many small shims)why wouldn't it work? the end of the friction cones and carrier would both lie against a flat surface.
