I want to get a B&M Hammer Shifter for my 1990 Iroc Z, but it does not look like it has an overdrive gear like on the stock shifter. If I install this, will I lose overdrive, or does neutral just become overdrive?

 

i bet B&M makes one for a 700r4 application. B&M makes a very nice shifter set up for 3rd gens, the mega shifter with all the console parts you need to keep your stock console set up. id look into buying that shifter set up with thathammer handle, if thats what your attracted to? i have a megashifter for a 3rd gen and love it. very fun shifter.

 

how exactly does this thing work.
what does it do? make your shifter look different?

i mean.. i dont see what they do other than replace the stock black shifter and look shiney.

 

I have a B&m consule megashifter and I picked up that hammerhead shifter handle for around 20 bucks from jegs it screws right in 1,2,3.

 

Not just that, its a racheting shifter, meaning instead of pushing down a button and shifting, you pop the shifter up or down, and it re-centers. Hitting the shifter up one time is the equivelant of moving up a gear.

also the mega shifter has a reverse lockout that makes it impossible to shift into reverse when "slap"shifting it.
