T 5 tranny 2nd and reverse trouble

My 2nd gear makin a very loud noise and likes to pop out the place its gettin worse and worse every months, so i have to shift really smooth and keep my hand on it all the times, plus my reverse gear grinds too, should i just get another tranny, or get this one rebuilt? What goin to happen in a few years if i keep on ignorin my 2nd gear? is it nessasery to fix it or not asap? i would rather wait and save up my money and put Richmond 5 speed in it because its better then t5 world class, what do u think?

Most likely you've trashed the engagement teeth on 2nd gear, and probably torn up the sliding sleeve as well. It will be tough to hurt it worse that in already is.

I think between the Richmond and the T5 you're better off with the T5, especially if you upgrade it a bit.

Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
And reverse gear isn't synchronized, so it will grind unless all the gears/teeth are stationary while engaging. The easiest way to prevent it from grinding is to be at a full stop, keep the clutch pedal pushed down, give the shifter a quick jog into any forward gear before putting it into reverse.

That is alos correct. Not doing so can tear up the reverse idler gear, of which I've replaced many over the years.
