I trashed my flywheel last night, and now I need to replace it. I'm just wondering is there such thing as a "performance" flywheel? If so, than will it make much difference?
It's going into a 350 tpi, Automatic.

For the record, with an automatic transmission it is popularly called a "flexplate", rather than flywheel.

I'm running a Pioneer stock replacement on the Camaro, and a stock '66 unit on the 396. Unless you thrash yours in some manner or another beyond the typical TGO member, something such as that should be fine. There are heavy duty SFI rated types out there, but the chance of you needing more than a stock replacement are slim.

Well due to the time factor, I ended up just replacing it with a stock.
As to how bad I trashed it. I tore a whole right through the middle, where the bolts were. With five different cracks going out from it. Im sure it's happened to people before, but it was all new to me.

I haven't done nuetral drops since I drove my parents mini-van The car does have a lot of miles. The engine and transmission have both been replaced within a year. So I don't know how much wear this car had before I got it. (I've only had it for a few months).

By the way seeing a mini-van smoke em is very interesting.

had a friend who had a pretty decent 85 z-28 got it for next to nothing under the assumption the engine was about to come apart. Sounded like it too. I looked underneath and was like dude your fly wheel is f***ed up it's clattering all over the place. we replaced that and it ran great until they lost 2nd gear
