tv cable broken??? help
I recently put a 600 cfm edelbrock on the camaro from the quadrajet. I continue to try to adjusting the tv cable by pushing the D shaped metal button, and sliding the plastic together. I then proceeded to pull the throttle open all the way but the slider does not come out of the housing, nor does it make the clicking sound people refer to. I have also tried a guessing a couple of times and then taking it around the block, but nothing seems to work. The only way the car will even go into first now is by doing it manually. Basically the question is the cable broken and is it possible to replace the tv cable without completely removing the tranny?

Cable is replaceable w/o removing tranny - it connects to side of tranny on pass side of car with 1 bolt - there's a hook in there that the cable end connects to.
You do know that you have to push the accellerator pedal inside the car to adjust right? Moving the linkage by hand on the carb won't get it adjusted the same way.
Brackets (mentioned above) are important - I had some el cheapos that wouldn't hold - they bent instead. Get heavy thick metal bracket for the cables that won't flex when pedal pushed - there's way more pressure on that TV cable than you think.
And there's a piece for the Edelbrock linkage that's expensive ($40) that corrects the geomtery - check out 700R4.com - I think they have it on there.

I suspect that there's nothing wrong with your cable at all, your brackets have the cable mounted too far forward.

Here is a picture of the bracket that holds the tv cable, if this bracket is the wrong one please show me where i can pick up the correct one. I just figure out that i might be missing a piece that goes attaches the tv cable to the linkage, in a different spot after reading that site. This link shows the piece that I am missing, where would i be able to order it from. http://www.tvmadeez.com/1406_cam/

The reason is that it is fully extended is because i was pushing the D shaped button and then continuing to pull the slider out of the housing in a hope to luckily get it right. The slider will not come out of the housing unless you hold the D shaped button when you pull the throttle which is what i tried.

When you use an Edelbrock carb, the stock cable bracket like you're using usually mounts the cable too close to the throttle arm. You might be able to bend it into shape, or you could use an aftermarket bracket.

I bent the bracket back so the tv cable housing would be further away from the carb. The slider is now in the housing. Now when I pull the throttle linkage the cable gets extremely tight about halfway threw and will not pull any further. I am affraid if I pull any harder I will brake some thing. Am i supposed to continue pulling the cable even though it is tight and this would set the tv cable correctly?

Open the throttle all the way, you can't really hurt anything. You should hear it click when it adjusts. It takes a bit of effort if you're doing it by hand.
