Pressure regulator valve trouble

I'm in the process of installing a shift-kit into my 700r4. Im at the part of removing the retaining ring and replacing the rings in the pressure regulator valve, however once the retaining ring is removed the valve will not pop out. It wont even move. Ive tried rapping on it gently to get it to break free, but nothing.

Im so pissed at this point I want to scrap the whole thing and get a manual.

Help!

Put the filter and pan back on, add a couple of quarts of fluid back in and start the engine. That should be enough to blow the valve out of the pump. If the linkage is still connected put it into 1st. That bumps the pressure even higher.

The tranny is out of the car and so is the motor. Anyways we ended up pulling the pump, and the valve is literall jammed in there, it wont move for anything. We ended up breaking it. But then we saw the bands in the tranny are shot anyways, so we threw it together and tossed it outside. Ill just take the GM service replacement 700R we have in the shed and use that.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Take a new pencil and put the flat edge against the valve. Keep wiggling the pencin in and out. The idea is to apply and quickly release the valve. Just keep working it. Spring pressure will pop it out.

Not in this case, it wont budge at all. As in we tried the big hammer and everything, it is literally like fused into the pump housing. lol
