Can't shift into reverse?
Problem: can't shift into reverse.
It was working fine, here is what I did before the problem arose. I was on some back roads cruising around trying to peal out but couldn't I just ended up doing a few sprints, tested the breaks, and suspension.
Parked the car fine then when It was time to back out. The car just wouldnn't get into gear. The shifter worked fine as in, it still moved into positioin, it just wouldn't get into gear all it does is just sit there, in reverse. A few times it accually went forward in the "R" postition and in the "N" postition.
It just now sits there in the "R" position, its as if it were in park or something.
The car does fine in drive. Runs strong.
The car currently has 7004R Trany with about 150,000 miles. Was recently rebuilt, the rebuild was done about two years ago and a 2400 stall BM Holshot converter was install along with a BM Mega shifter and recently 3.73 Yukon gears from randys ring and pinion. The gears were done by a pro and so was the trany rebuild. I put in the BM mega shifter. I don't believe its the shifter, I didn't notice anything wrong at all when I opend it back up. I havn't had time to get underneath the car, but nothing seems to be leaking or hanging down.
No unussual noises, leaks, or smells have been noticed. Like I said earlier the car runs great in drive. For some reason the trany won't switch into reverse.
WHAT I THINK I DID. I think I just ran it really hard and either wore out the grears or seriously damaged my transmission. Or the old girl is just F!@# up. The trany that is...
I'm thinking maybe this is the time for a 5spd or 6spd manuel??? What do you think?
Its my daily driver, so any info you can send quickly would be greatly appriciated. Its probably going to go to a pro sometime this week. Just to get it checked out.
We'll see.
Thanks
Dan

Lift the car and re-adjust the cable. The selector in the car can be showing the right gear, but the cable is loose on the trans selector arm. Been there and done that.
