t56 emergency question
I just purchased a used t56. I was told it was just rebuilt 600 miles ago. I was checking the flywheel and the surface is no where near flat. with a strait edge across it I can plainly see waves. Also I looked at the input shaft and I can noticibly feel it wiggle! My guess is that there is something wrong with the shaftbearings, and that ruined the clutch and flywheel.
What do you guys think, and what do you think might be wrong with the tranny.

I think you are right about the bearing. How much wiggle does it have? There should be a little room for the bearing to work so keep that in mind. How much did you pay for the setup? If you decide to rebuild, be prepared for sticker shock. These transmissions are a bit pricey when they break. Make sure you find a GOOD rebuilder if you decide to go that route.

it is a noticible wiggle. mybe a 1/32 inch. I paid good money since it was supposed to be freshly rebuilt. If it's bad I'm getting my money beck not rebuilding. This is the second t56 I've bought for this swap and I'm not having good luck. I think I might be saying the hell with it and keeping my automatic.
Anyone else feel free to chime in.

If it is only 1/32" I wouln't worry about it, especially if the trans is fresh. The pilot bearing will keep everything "straight" (i use that term loosely) and all bearings will have some play in them.
