driveshaft problem
I have a couple of questions on this one
I have been having a really really hardcore vibration problem at highway speeds...i cant go over 80 without the car feeling like its going to rattle apart. The steering is fine though, no vibration there, its like the whole car doing it. I know i need new rear tires but i dont think it would be causing this bad of a vibration. So today i decided to check my driveshaft..
1. Do you need to rebalance the driveshaft for different gears?..i have 3.73s. This driveshaft is from a 95 camaro z28 also.
2. when i pulled the clips off the rearend to see if the driveshaft was centered...i noticed that i cant move the driveshaft left and right...like theres nothing lining it up perfectly on either end. So how the hell am i supposed to center the driveshaft perfectly?..isnt there suppsed to be a groove or something that doesnt allow you to push the driveshafts caps all the way out the other end of the yoke on the rearend?

there should be i believe clips on the u-joint caps on the inside. if not there the yoke should have little ridges that keep it lined up and from flying out. it can be a very dangerous issue if u dont get them clips or whatever holdn that. I've seen guys at dragstrips roll their cars because the d/s fly's out and catapults the car
