Picking up some transmission goodies
Getting a performance rebuilt transmission (by Jimmy's in Mundelein, IL if anyone knows them) and an Edge 3800 lock-up torque converter, and I'm trying to put together an order on Summit for the pieces I want to install with it.
I want to install a trans temp guage (braze fitting into pan when I install the trans), transmission cooler, and transmission blanket.
For the guage, I have ATM-2552 picked out. Its the cheapest analog/electric transmission temp guage that AutoMeter makes.
For the blanket, I'm buying the RCI SFI 4.1 spec nylon blanket. I realize a full transmission shield is the best route, but that is $270 I don't have at the moment, nor will it be required for the plans I have for this car.
Now for a cooler...I can't decide what to go with. I need to keep the price under $47 as the above two items are leaving me with $47 to spend. I can't really wait longer and save more currently because the transmission swap has to happen next weekend.
BMM-70268 is a 7 1/2"x11"x3/4" plate-style cooler by B&M, and FLX-3820 is a 7 1/2"x20 1/2"x3/4" tube-fin-style cooler by Flex-a-lite. Which is going to be the better one to go with? I have plenty of room for either one, as it will get mounted to the front of my radiator (no AC radiator anymore).
From what I understand, the plate-style coolers are more efficient, but the tube-and-fin radiator is much larger. Will the size make up for the lower efficiency? I don't mind if these are a bit overkill as I can make something to block off part of the cooler if need be while street driving and then take it off for max cooling at the track.

Yep, all I've ever heard was good about his transmissions.
Which transmission cooler should I go with that I listed above?
