Question bout speedo cable and gear
When I got this car recently from a friend he told me speedo was reading off by 5-10 mph and that it had something to do with his uncle putting a rebuilt tranny or rebuilding the tranny and the car also had the rear swapped but supposedly with same one so it should still be the 3.42 V6 rear.
So when I actually started driving the car I noticed the speedo doesnt work at all so I'm guessing the cable broke. Have not looked at it yet. I've already dealt with cables and gears in my mustang w 4.10s.
Since I'm new to bowties I was wondering if there was a certain speedo gear I need, if there are different tailshaft gears with differnt R4s like in the mustangs with like an extra tooth count depending on the year that could cause a bad reading. Also maybe the best place to buy these parts?

There is some info on speedo gears in the frequently asked questions section. I found it helpful on how to put the gears in my T-5 before installation. There is a section on determining the gear set you need to match the rear ratio. I would be happy to provide more info but I have no clue really. Just pleased that I thought to look before the transmission is in the car. Now if I can figure how to pull the axle out of a 9-bolt life will improve...have brakes and tools all over the garage.
