i have a 84 ta, with a 700R4 tranny, this tranny is wierd, ive owned the car since my sophmore year of highschool now im a senior so 2 years about, and havent had a problem with the tranny till the other day, its shifts like its new and such, but its wierd, all of a sudden i have like another overdrive, its not slipping, it just going lower in rpm, like i have opened another gear up, i used to run about 55 at almost 2000rpm in OD now its runnin about 1700 in OD, what the hell did i do? i also got this wierd noise commin now, only when im going, i get on the brakes and it stops, its like a high pitch noise, maybe a wheel bearing? it seems to be comming from the front right tire area, well with being in the cabin of these cars you cant really tell. but i think someone help me

It sounds to me like your converter lockup wasn't occuring before when you were running 2k instead of 1700 at 55. When the converter locks up, it does feel like the car shifts into another gear. I could be wrong, but it's probably working correctly now as opposed to before.
