Modulator has no effect! TH350 Opinions needed

Guys i need help in theorizing what might be wrong with my setup.

I just disconnected the vacuum on my red stripe modulator and the shifts are accuring pretty early as if was running under light throttle. (with it disconnected it should be shifting pretty high)

I never noticed before since when i do a full power shift or for most driving I manually hold the gear. This was a fully redone transmission with lots of goddies in it . However before it was installed it sat for a long time in a shed covered. (just throwing some history out there.

Now if i shift it under full throttle and manually shift it will shift like it should.

What do you guys think this could be. Sticking governor,???! Just a bad modulator, low line pressure.

Just for info as well once when i first started it it took a second before it engaged into second but I do remember beign a little low on fluids at the time.

Now that i thought about it if i leave it on its own it shifts pretty damn early on all gears. I really dont even feel them going 1,2,3.... that quick!!!

Anyways I always fing it good practice to get the collective brains going before getting under my car.

THANKS GUYS

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Sounds to me like the modulator valve (the part that goes into the hole the modulator goes into before the you put in the modulator) is stuck, backwards, or missing.

how early is early? Was your th350 core from a truck? The one in the S10 I just purchased shifts at 3800rpm every time even with a car modulator (stock one was bent nearly in half!!!).

You can change it while in the car, get one from an older vette, Camaro, or any performance car that had a higher shift piont.

The modulator could be bad, even though it is new, as I have seen this before many years ago. Jack up the rear end so that it is higher, than the front if possible, as you will lose some fluid when checking to see if the modulator valve is in there. You can use the B&M governor kit to change the WOT shifts if need be.
