ijust bought a set of 4.56 for my car im going from 2.73 so im sure its going to run a little better right now car runs 12.70 at 110 so im not positive what it will run w/ new gears my only question is is this set of gears going to tear up my 700r trans . before i was in 3ed when i crossed but just berly in thired gear now im sure im going to be red lining in 4th but i was told it would tare up my overdrive just wondering if anybody runs gears this steep and how it affects there car if at all .

 

what size tires and what mph do u trap at?

 

255/60/15 tire size and i trapped at 110

 

well with the 110 trap, u should have been originally around 3600 rpm in 3rd?

with 4.56, assuming the same trapspeed, u should be around 4500 in overdrive, or if u want to wind out 3rd gear, u can take it up to about 6500 rpm

i think 4.56 was too much for your car.

 

well i have abuilt 355 and right now im not even pulling very hard intill about 75-85 mph so i called comp and told them the problem and they suggested 4.10 or 4.56 so i went w/ those motor is 355 w/9to1 and has edelbrock heads intake and carb and a 507/51 lift cam and a 300 hole shot convertor so i was just wondering about these gears. thats all.
