th350 not going into gear need help!!!

my motor fired for the first time yesterday (been 4 mon) after I took it out of my 79 and put in the 85 it wont go into any gear. modulater is hooked up shifter is working fine it has fluid. if the modulater was bad would it cause this?it just sets there the rpm dosent even change and ill go through every gear nothing, my brother says he sees a major kink in the bottom line and that hes amazed fluid is even circulating im thinking that thats the problem but its hard to belive that it will stop a tranny from going into gear.

Converter bolts installed?

Did the converter come out while it was being swapped? If so, did you get it back onto the pump ears properly?

How much fluid is in it?

The cooling line thing won't keep it from going into gear; might shorten its life drastically, but won't keep it from working.

Are you POSITIVE that you got it engaged to the 2 little ears on the pump gear? If so, it should have had to be pulled back out of the trans about ¼" or so to get it to mate to the flex plate.

ok, I unhooked the line before the kink fired the motor and its definetly pumping. a memeber from another bord said the kink would affect it because....
"Not only will it stop it from going into gear, a kink can potentially burn up your clutch packs. A kinked cooler line will stop oil from being pumped through the valve body, and if there is nothing in the valve body there is no pressure to engage the clutches"
